When was the last time you cleaned your yoga mat? If you answered “I’m not sure” to this question, it is time you take a moment to clean your mean machine, because it spends most of its time on the dirty floor covered in your sweat.
If that doesn’t motivate you, remember that many of us wear clothes that expose our skin while we’re working out, which leaves you open to bacteria that may be found on the floor, or on your mat. There are many different strains of bacteria, but the ones most commonly found in gyms or yoga studios are athlete’s foot, plantar warts, rashes, or even worse, staph infections.
We’re working out to increase our immune systems and be healthy – not get sick or deal with some nasty infection. Therefore, take some time to clean your workout mat, and leave your sweat session with glowing skin and a strong immune system.
